Made in England: Mass production & oriental imagery
英國製造:大量複製的東方想像

This project ‘Made in England’ is based on my material culture investigation of willow ware, a type of ceramic with British Chinoiserie patterns known as willow pattern. It explores Orientalism, the Industrial Revolution and globalization.

The project began with my discovery of willow shards while mudlarking along the river Thames foreshore in London. Since the 18th century, willow ware has been extensively manufactured and popularized in Britain, reflecting a history of British and even European fascination with Chinoiserie aesthetics.
