Longgang Haunted House | 龍崗怪樓

The film investigates the architectural design and construction history of the Longgang Haunted House. It reveals how its owner transformed his experiences as a seaman, the architectural and visual experiences he accumulated through global travel, his trauma during the Second Sino-Japanese War, and local folk beliefs into a highly personal and self-directed architectural practice.

Born in the early twentieth century, this Hong Kong seaman returned to his hometown in Shenzhen in his later years and constructed an apocalyptic fortress. Left abandoned for decades, the building gradually became known locally as a haunted house and one of the region's most enduring urban legends.
